Locative media is on another words location-based media. If I hear that combination of word, my first guess would be media that I could have with me at all times(e.g. mobile phone, GPS). And you know what..my approximate guess was almots right - Location-based media delivers multimedia and other contents directly to the user of a mobile device dependent on their location.
Therefor, locative media is digital media that is applied to real places, but in the same time triggering social interactions, where mobile technologies (GPS, laptop computers, mobile phones) enable locative media, they are not the goal for development of projects in this field.
So, as I understand the function "google maps" for example in our laptop computers/mobile phones is the location-based media deliverer?
The term “locative media” refers to every information about the physical location as well as other contextual cues. The most commonly used context of mobile systems is the location of the user since it is easy to determine and it could be meaningful to use it in order to adapt the behavior of a mobile application (Nicolas Nova, 2004).
Doing my research I discovered that earlier I wasn't quite right. Location-based media device should detect, what is the device holder exact location. Like GPS, it detects where you are. But is is also a device, shown in the previous video - a device that detects any kind of product and its location.
